Dianne Foley represents private sector management clients in all facets of labor and employment matters from consulting and risk avoidance analysis to litigation. She also has significant experience in commercial litigation , federal trial practice and procedure, probate litigation, and appellate practice In the course of her thirty years as a litigator, Ms. Foley has written and argued numerous appeals in state and federal courts in Ohio, New Jersey, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Ohio Supreme Court She recently argued an important case on Ohio’s tax apportionment law, National City Bank v. de Laville, et al, 2006-Ohio-5909.

Ms. Foley joined the firm in 1983. She was previously a partner in the Newark, New Jersey law firm of Connell, Foley & Geiser. A former law clerk to the Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, she has handled commercial and employment litigation for a wide variety of clients, including: CAVS/Gund Arena Company, Protective Corporation of Alabama, Pacific Great Lakes Shipping Company, Lear Siegler, Brush Wellman, Neff Perkins Company, Parker Hannifin Corporation, Reliance Electric, American Greetings, Astro Metallurgical, the Cleveland Institute of Art, the Episcopal Diocese of Ohio, The Dickey-Grabler Company, Smythe, Cramer Company, Howard Hanna, Rolls Royce, Tremont Company, Independent Steel, Vintage Wine Distributor, Inc. and Saint-Gobain Corporation.

Ms. Foley is an appointed member of the Federal Advisory Group to the Judges of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio (1999 - present), and Chair of the Cleveland Bar Association’s Federal Courts Committee. She is a frequent CLE lecturer on employment and litigation matters for the Ohio State Bar Association and the Cleveland Bar Association. Since 1996, Ms. Foley has been program chair for the Federal Court Training Seminar, a joint project of the Cleveland and Federal Bar Associations and a federal district court admissions requirement for all new lawyers. She is Board Certified by the Ohio State Bar Association as a Labor & Employment Law Specialist and has been voted as one of “Ohio’s Super Lawyers” for 2007 and every year since its inception.
