John N. Neal

Mr. Neal maintains a diverse practice, including complex commercial and business litigation, employment litigation defense, municipal litigation, trust and estate litigation, and commercial property tax assessment challenges and appeals.

Specifically, he has trial and appellate experience in litigation involving employer and employee disputes, trade secrets, unfair trade practices, UCC sales of goods, UCC banking disputes, municipal contract and construction disputes, copyright infringement, class action defense, broker dealer defense, securities litigation, directors and officers liability, and significant experience with Ohio consumer sales practices claims.  His litigation of trust and estate matters compliments the firm’s trust and estate planning practice as well.

Additionally, Mr. Neal handles all state and federal employee discrimination matters, including wrongful and constructive discharge, age, race, gender, national origin, and other protected class discrimination, retaliation, sexual harassment, and wage and hour disputes.

He routinely files complaints before Ohio Boards of Revision, challenging the county auditor’s valuation of commercial properties, and has obtained million dollar reductions in such properties’ taxable value, resulting in substantial tax savings.

Prior to joining Spieth Bell, Mr. Neal gained significant trial experience at a large Cleveland defense firm, with a practice including professional liability defense of attorneys, accountants, engineers, and architects, employment discrimination defense, insurance coverage matters, and general business representation.
