Sterling Newell, Jr.
 
Sterling Newell, Jr. died August 8, 2006 at the Meadow, his home in Gates Mills. He was a family man with a family that included his beloved Frannie,  their children and their children’s children, those who worked in the Firm he built, the members of the Court of Nisi Prius, the parishioners of St. Paul’s Church, many other dear friends and relatives and the bluebirds in his Meadow.

Mr. Newell was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1949 and to the U.S. Customs Court in 1960. Mr. Newell received his B.S. degree from Haverford College and law degree from New York University. He served as Special Assistant to U.S. Attorney General (1953-1955) and as President of the Cleveland Bar Association (1984-1985). In 1957 Mr. Newell became a partner of the firm. He has concentrated his practice in the areas of counseling individuals and closely-held corporations.
