Estate Planning and Personal Tax

Our Estates and Trusts practice group has a well-deserved reputation for sophisticated, thorough and discreet representation of individuals, fiduciaries, and families desiring to perpetuate wealth for their heirs, minimize taxes and benefit their communities through charitable giving. Six partners focus their extensive talents exclusively in the areas of the taxation of gifts, estates, trusts, generation-skipping transfers, and private entities exempt from tax and charities, such as charitable lead and remainder trusts and private foundations. All are recognized leaders in the field not only in our community but also with client families nationwide.

We provide planning for individuals and families focused on their personal goals as well as their desire to minimize taxes. Our partners serve as Executors and Trustees for clients wishing to maintain continuity in the implementation of their intent after they have created trusts or after death. We also assist clients who serve as Executors and Trustees by providing the day-to-day support, annual tax return preparation and legal advice needed for their administration of estates, trusts and private foundations. We offer skilled life insurance and retirement benefit planning and have a long history of assisting individuals to select among charitable giving options and to implement the chosen plan. Working with the firm's closely-held business planning and corporate and partnership taxation partners, the group assists families with their overlapping business succession, estate planning and tax minimization needs. Our Trusts and Estates group offers the services of lawyers who provide tax advice tempered by a sensitivity to human issues.
